Kinetic Energy of a Baseball?

A pitcher throws a 0.146-kg baseball, and it approaches the bat at a speed of 50.3 m/s. The bat does Wnc = 90 J of work on the ball in hitting it. Ignoring the air resistance, determine the speed of the ball after the ball leaves the bat and is 28.4 m above the point of impact.

Figure out how much kinetic energy the ball has when it is thrown. Add the extra energy given to the ball when it is hit (the work done on the ball). This is how much energy the ball has after it is hit. Figure out how much gravitational potential energy it has when it is 28.4 m above the point of impact. Subtract this from the total energy the ball had after being hit. The energy that is left will be the kinetic energy it has when at 28.4 m above the point of impact. Use the kinetic energy formula again to figure out it’s speed.
