need tips on improving my baseball skills before baseball season?
so im trying out for the junior varsity team in my school and i havent played basell since i was 9 which is longtime ago but i know the game and all that type of stuff. What im having tough time is fundamentals like catching fly air balls and long throw. So today i went to baseball clinic and felt so nervous of what they would think because i seem the only one to have a lot of trouble. Though i learn to catch the ball n ground balls. The trainers told me im good at hitting the ball during the batting cages. So now what i really want to improve is my fielding before march so do any of you guys have tips i can do at home or at the gym because its snowy season over here and any more tips. Cause i want to make the jv team and im willing to put 100 percent and hardwork to improve before tryouts.
for your fielding…
get a coach or a friend who plays baseball to work out with you in a gym somewhere like at your school. hit grounders to each other and work on that. the only way to improve is to practice practice practice. dont be afraid of the ball either, thats the big key, stay down on it, keep your glove down in the dirt. its easier to bring the glove up than to put it down. if there is no one who you can do that with, throwing a ball against a wall and practicing fielding it off the wall is a good way to practice on your own.
for throwing…
start smaller. throw consistently from the baseline on the bball court to midcourt, get your arm strength up, but dont over do it and hurt your arm. move that back and long toss baseline to baseline after a week. then go corner to corner after that. work on your crow hop and shuffle steps.
