Will small market teams ever compete?
Like Milwaukee, KC, Pittsburgh, I mean Ney York & Boston are always in the playoff mix, what about these other teams? I’m not sure how it works but how can NY afford to pay Arod more than what Florida pays its entire roster? It don’t make sense. I think the NFL is doing a good job as far as parity goes with teams, why can’t baseball follow suit to some degree?
Small market teams do compete, they just can’t compete consistently, because most of them are owned by owners who are more interested in turning a profit than winning championships. New York and Boston are always in the playoff mix because they have owners who are willing to pay money to win. Also to correct you here cause it’s so annoying when I hear people saying this, A-Rod alone does not make more than the entire Florida Marlins roster. A-Rod makes more than the Marlins entire Opening Day lineup. A-Rod makes about 28 million, the Marlins payroll is about 44 million. The salary cap is what makes the NFL so annoying. As much as people may say, the average fan does not want parody. The only people who want parody are the fans of the teams who are in the cellar every year. People want to see greatness, dynasties, etc. The reason baseball can’t be like the NFL is because the last time baseball tried to be like the NFL we lost the 1994 World Series.
