Is it just me or does the NBA have a different standard?

Yesterday the Phillies and Marlins had a bench clearing scuffle. Players from even the bullpens left their seats to join in on the event. Yet there was no mass media coverage like the little scuffle that happend with the Knicks and Nuggets. You know when Carmelo sucker punched the guy and did his best electric slide routine. In the NBA if a guy even leaves his seat he gets a game supsension in baseball if you leave your dugout or the bullpen nothing happens in fact you are celebrated for it. I hate to say it but I think it is ok If whites get into a fight but if blacks do it is some sort of tragic event that is another sign of our decay society. Am I the only one who thinks the NBA is treated differently because it primarily composes of blacks.

i see your point of view. i agree for the most part. but, ultimately i think it comes down to stern and how he wants his league projected to the public. how many times do you see a “nba cares” commercial during a game? what other sport contributes as much to their community as the nba? we can both agree thats awesome! now, wouldnt it be contradictive to portray these celebrities as careing and giving on one hand, and on the other allow incidents like, for example, the pistons pacers ordeal, or any of the many other incidents in the past. i think stern put himself in a position to “buckle down”. i agree some of the penalties for the lesser incidents (amarie) should be revisited, but until now, the rules have been the rules, like the law is the law. maybe baseball needs to adjust, although, incidents like that that you mention, help keep me interested in the game, personally.
