Does anyone know baseball rules really well?

so i was on second and stole third before the pitcher pitched…and i thought the pitcher was not aloud to commit to a base that is not occupied… was the legal for the pitcher to do?
i meant was that legal…

This move was legal. The Official Rules of Baseball states in Rule 8.05 (d) that it is a balk when:
(d) The pitcher, while touching his plate, throws, or feints a throw to an unoccupied base, except for the purpose of making a play;
In this situation, he is most certainly making a play, so the move is legal.

I don’t know what level you are playing, but the NFHS Rulebook, the official governing rules for high school play, goes on to state that the pitcher, from the set position, may deliver the ball to any base, whether occupied or unoccupied, for the purpose of making a play.
So the play is legal. It is incumbent upon the runner to make sure the pitcher is going to the plate before he commits to the next base.
