why can some people hit a baseball alright when it is pitched but so poorly when they toss it up for themself?
can someone help me find out how to describe proper batting stance and how to swing for both when you are pitched and when you toss it up for yourself (for home run derby like out with your friends)
Whats the best way to stand and swing when just throwing it up foryourself to hit a home run

When you toss the ball up to your self you are hitting under the ball. When someone pitches the ball to you, you are swinging through the ball. Just like the guy said above me it has to do with vertically and horizontally.
The best way to hit the ball is to wait for the ball to come down and hit it knee high. You will either hit a line drive or a deep fly ball.
There is no certain stance. Whatever is comfortable for you.
