2. Janice had a 5-inch high by 3-inch wide photo enlarged to a 3.5 foot tall poster. What should be the approximate width of the poster?

A. 1.5 feet
B. 2.1 feet

3. Alicia is 5 feet tall. She casts a shadow that measures 6.5 feet long at the same time that the sculpture in the park casts a shadow 12 feet long. Which of the following is the approximate height of the sculpture?

A. 9 feet
B. 16 feet
C. 27 feet
D. 78 feet
think #1 is 9

(1) Hits/Bats = 6/27 = X/40

so X = (6 x 40) / 27
X = 8.89 which is about 9
then the answer is (B)

(2) width/height = 3inches/5inches = X/3.5 feet
= X/3feet 6inches = X/42inches

width/height = 3inches/5inches = X/42inches

so X = (3 x 42) / 5 = 126/5 = 25.2 inches

X = 2 feet and 1.2 inches

then the answer is (B)

(3) height/shadow = 5 feet/6.5feet = X/12feet

so X = (5 x12) / 6.5 = 9.23 feet
then the answer is (A)
