Polyfil Batting

polyfil batting

How to pipe screen mod a DSE901 e-cigarette cart

How do I get the loudest bass from a small, sealed enclosure? Also, my stereo makes a crackling noise?

I have two 10″ punch stage 2 subs in my 2000 regular cab silverado. They are mounted behind the seat in two sealed Q-logic boxes. The bass inside the cab is okay but you can’t hear it two feet away from the truck with the windows down. Would it help at all to put any polyfil (batting) in the enclosures? Anyone have any ideas on getting louder bass?
Also, when I step on the brake or make sharp turns, the stereo makes a sort of crackling noise. I opened up the dash to look for any frayed wires or improperly grounded wires but everything looked good. Another odd thing was that it made the same noise when I rolled my window down. I only hear this crackling noise sometimes though. Some days I don’t get it at all. Any ideas? Thanks!

PS I am using:
Pioneer AVIC-D3 headunit
two infinity kappa 6.1 mids
infinity 4×6 rear plates
two 10″ punch p2 subs
MTX thunder amp for mids
and profile 2 ch (250w rms output)

. I really hate giving low ratings to others answers but OMG….

The problem you have inside & outside the truck is cancellation…and very very common on all vehicles when running subs..and with a reg cab pick up the subs are probably very close to the seat ..which will absorb alot of sound…bass frequency’s are long….try moving in different area’s around your truck…..ever notice that some systems pound like crazy….when coming down the road…but as they get closer it fades until they pass you and then the bass is slamming again?

polyfill will trick the sub into thinking it is in a larger enclosure providing the sub is in a non optimum enclosure. meaning the sub is in a smaller sealed area then it was designed for…( and in this case is probably fact)

I assume the 4×6 plates are in the panels right beside you in the back pillars…or are they in the dash ..

You may also find that the Sub amp is also a bit small driving your subs…the rating of Punch 10′s are 250rms( 500peak) each…and a profile amp with only 250 between them is 125w each….so it is a bit small in my books to run subs efficiently remember bass freq.’s are long….and also need gobs of power to produce them…the punch 10′s are not the best rated sub in efficiency appossed to your mids and plates at .one thing to try is a larger and more powerful amp if you can borrow beg or steal one to try

Efficiencies
Subs …(SPL (1W/1M) 84 dB )
mids Sensitivity 95dB
plates Sensitivity 94dB

which means…the plates and mids are 10-11DB in differnce in sound given 1watt @ 1metre….

English terms the mids and plates are 10times louder then your subs………….a humans natural hearing is sensitive to midrange…and high freq) where as the mid range and high freq’s are also much more efficient then the bass…so what you are getting is one range of sound over powering the other

as for the noise…i would look very hard to make sure that a cord running from your amp…to your HU is not pinched or frayed some where in the line…also make sure the signal and power lines are on oppiste sides of the truck …and the signal cords are not close to any of the hardware of the truck ( eg ecu and other componants) .

sorry this got long…but hope it helps

In the sport of cricket, batting is the act or skill of hitting the cricket ball with a cricket bat to score runs or prevent the loss of ones wicket. A player who is currently batting is denoted as a batsman, while the act of hitting the ball is called a shot or stroke. The terms batsman or specialist batsman are also used generically to describe players who specialise in batting. During an innings two batsmen from the team bat; the batsman facing the current delivery from the bowler is denoted the striker, while the other batsman is the nonstriker. When a batsman is out, he is replaced by a team mate. This process continues until the end of the innings, whereupon the other team gets a turn to bat. Batting tactics and strategy vary depending on the type of match being played as well as the current state of play. The main concerns for the batsmen are not to lose their wicket and to score as many runs as quickly as possible. These objectives are generally in oppositionto score quickly, some risky shots might need to be played which increases the chances that the batsman will be dismissed.
