How can I improve my softball batting.?

I can hit well, but I want some ways to make it go a little farther. i reach usually the start of the outfield or the outline of the infield, I want to be able to get more than a single/double. so advice? also, i’ve been striking out and i’m not shure exactly why. please provide me with general tips & pointers. thanks!

To hit the ball farther, you need to make your legs and your hips stronger. That’s where your power comes from. The faster your hips move through the zone, the farther the ball will go. I usually take a tee and a few balls and put the handle bat on my rear end, with the barrel out to my right, so it just meets the ball. Just using my hips, I hit the ball from the tee. Do this about 50 times a day and this will help with distance.

As far as striking out, focus on throwing your hands at the ball. Get about a bat-length away from a fence or a net and take some swings. Concentrate on throwing your hands, then bringing the bat through.

If you not seeing it well, a drill I have found to be useful is put a dot on a ball (big enough so you can see it) and have someone pitch it to you. You have to be able to tell what color the dot is. This makes you concentrate more on the pitch, not just swinging.
