How come sometimes if you hit your head you get really hurt and sometimes you don’t?

I dont really understand that because when I was about 12 I was outside hitting on a hit away with my sister (for those of you that don’t know a hit away is a softball attached to a pole in someway that makes it rotate around the pole so you can hit continuously) and while she was doing a full out swing she hit me in the head with the metal bat, because I was standing to close and you want to know what happened to me…nothing. No unconciousness no concussion nothing. I didnt have to see a doctor.
But then you watch these videos on youtube were people just kind of ding there head and they have a concussion.
how can a far less hard hit cause more damage??
