Could a homeowners policy cover this?
I had an encounter with a bat in the hallway of my apartment complex and subsequently, at the suggestion of disease control and my doctor, received rabies shots. The total cost was around $3800 and my insurance determined they will only pay $1000 because they thought it should have only cost $2000. This is not the first incident of bats in the building and they have gotten into the apartments many times a year for the past few years.
Can $1000 or more of this be covered under my landlords homeowners policy for medical payments to others? I understand that I would have to have my landlord check to know but sure but I would like to have a general idea before I bring this up.

Most land lord policies (Med Pay coverage) specifically exclude injury to residents of the property (tenants).
You will have to file under your health insurance.
